Traveled to the Great Barrier Reef today. Left from Port Douglas - about an hour from Cairns. Looks like a great little town with an interesting history of developement from a small fishing town to a tourist based economy. Traveled to the reef by boat where we were able to snorkel along the reef and scuba dive. I snorkeled and had a lot of fun seeing the reef and sea life up close. Brightly colored fish and coral everywhere. Tried to scuba dive, but couldn't get comfortable with breathing underwater. Enjoyed a nice lunch on the reef including calamari and mussels as well as prawns and burundi. What a great experience.
